Admittedly, finding authentic Italian food in Phuket is not so hard, we have a plethora of Italians who have made Phuket their home and indeed, plenty of Thai people who have visited, worked or been educated over in Italy have brought some delicious recipes and techniques back with them and opened up Italian food eateries all over Phuket Island.

ITALIAN FOOD BEACHSIDE

So, you might ask yourself what makes the Italian cuisine so unique at Carpe Diem Beach Club? Firstly, we have an Italian owner who has brought a large serving of home-cooked style recipes to the kitchen, and some rarely seen dishes on menus in Phuket restaurants. Secondly, we have an Executive Chef who is well versed in Italian cookery and understands the importance of consistency, presentation, flavour and quality of fundamental ingredients such as cheese, flour, tomatoes and herbs. Finally, we are positioned right on the beach and with a fiery hot wood-fired oven and the gentle sea breeze we offer a location like no other to enjoy Italian food the way it is supposed to be devoured, slowly, steadily and in the company of good friends and family with a selection of fine wines to complement the overall experience.

Pizza

What can you expect to see and savour on the menu at Carpe Diem? We already mentioned our wood-fired oven, and we excel in delivering delicious pizza with Italy’s favourite the ‘Margherita’ reminiscent of the country flag, with its white mozzarella, red tomato sauce and green fresh basil is always best served beachside with a chilled beer to wash it down with. Other pizzas we have are ‘Diavola’ with spicy sausage, ‘Prosciutto Crudo’, with toppings of Parma ham, rocket. ‘Tartufo’, with white truffle and taleggio and ‘Quattro Formaggi’ topped with taleggio, scamorza and gorgonzola.

Pasta

Of course, the homemade pasta dishes are unrivalled in freshness and flavour, try the ‘Orecchiette Cime di Rapa’ sauteed with turnip tops, olive oil, chilli and pecorino cheese. Truly delicious! Carpe Diem’s ‘Penne all’Arrabbiata’ is a rich and spicy dish. The King of pasta dishes is the ‘Linguine all’Astic’ served with half Boston lobster in a tomato bisque sauce. Of course, we offer a tasty ‘Spaghetti Vongole e Bottarga’ with delicious clams and our ‘Pappardelle al Ragú’ with stewed lamb is epic!
